A group in the luxury sector called upon our expertise to enhance the resilience and ethics of its supply chains for gold and silver sourced exclusively from recycled materials.

 

Methodology and deliverables: 

 

We identified the limitations of certain certifications guaranteeing the truly secondary origin of the precious metals. We also narrowed down the resulting reputational risks faced by the client as the end purchaser. 

 

Our audit identified sources of "clean" secondary materials (from jewelry and manufacturing) and emphasized the value of sourcing from specific markets (India, Germany, and Italy), where jewelry use and recycling is highest.

 

Lastly, we identified several potential local partners with whom the client could establish its own waste recovery network.
